Human Resources Supervisor (Law Firm in San Francisco)

These functions include, but are not limited to, recruiting, hiring, new hire notification and orientation, performance management, attendance, and administering office, Firm, and regulatory HR policies and procedures. This position also works with attorneys and department managers/supervisors to identify hiring criteria and select qualified candidates for open positions.
Responsibilities
· Providing guidance to managers and employees on routine employee relations issues including performance management (coaching, discipline and termination), compensation and legal updates;
· Working with managers and Firm-wide Human Resources to ensure compliance with Firm policies;
· Handling all aspects of recruiting and separations of non-attorney San Francisco positions, including but not limited to preparing job descriptions and posting open positions on the Firm’s website and in outside publications, soliciting and evaluating resumes, conducting interviews and administering testing, reviewing references and preparing offer letters;
· Developing and conducting new employee orientation and coordinating and processing all exit interviews for SF personnel;
· Supervising the HR Administrative Assistant(s), including work assignments, performance and training;
· Developing and maintaining professional relationships with local universities, business colleges and community college placement offices as a source to generate qualified applicants;
· Managing the performance evaluation process, including introductory period performance evaluations and annual evaluations for timekeepers and non-legal staff;
· Developing manager training programs designed to improve recruiting and hiring efficiencies and reduce turnover;
· Acting as liaison with Firm-wide Human Resources and employees on leaves of absence and/or workers’ compensation claims; and
· Providing backup and administrative support during Secretarial and Document Processing Manager’s absences.
Requirements
· Minimum of five years supervisory experience in a law or business environment with a minimum of 3 years in human resources; and
· Bachelor’s degree desirable and/or coursework in business administration or human resources.
Knowledge & Abilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES

*Maintain thorough knowledge of all service offerings (Staffing, Payroll, IC Compliance, CCS, LifeCycle).
*Perform Payroll, Staffing, Compliance, LifeCycle, Consolidated Billing functions as needed .
*Maintain an ongoing knowledge of contractual obligations to each client.
*Maintain an ongoing knowledge of each site's Standard Operating Procedures.
*Ensure consistent and thorough communications to all involved parties.
*Provide consistent and timely updates of problems and their resolution to the manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*College degree or relevant experience
*Recruitment/staffing experience required
*Three years of experience in sales, marketing, staffing industry operations, HR/recruiting, and customer service is preferred

*Must have good customer service and organizational skills

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Education, HRD, OD, Psychology or a J.D. in Law with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in professional development, organizational development, training and/or associate relations;
MA degree in Education, HRD, OD, Psychology, Business (with HR emphasis) or related field with a minimum of 10 years experience in professional development and/or training and organizational development;
Large law firm experience preferred.
Knowledge of:
Organizational and professional development for audiences at varying levels of experience with organizational development and stakeholder engagement;
Adult learning principles and their application;
Instructional design techniques, needs assessment, survey design, quantitative/qualitative data analysis, report and recommendation development, focus group and interview administration; program evaluation and measurement of effectiveness;
Training and development activities, functions and delivery methods;
Computer systems and technologies used to deliver and administer training programs;
MS Word, Excel and Power Point programs; and
Project management.
